Cuckoo

One of the heart touching love stories in Tamil cinema. Directed by Raja Murugan in 2014. Movie with a 5 crore budget, collected about 25 crore. Brilliant acting by Attakathi Dinesh, Malvika Nair, Aadukalam Murugadoss, Elangor, Nandhini, Vairabalan, and more. Every one of them performed brilliantly. This movie won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Tamil). 

Muthal Mariyathai 

Story about a slightly old upper-caste man, who is living an unhappy marriage life. Was seeking for a proper love and care, found good friendship with a low-caste woman. However this news leads to rumours as they are in love. Directed by Bharathiraja and acted by Sivaji Ganesan, Radha, Vadivukarasi, Sathyaraj. Movie was released in 1985. 

Visaranai

Vetrimaaran another brilliant work is Visaranai. Released in 2015, and starring Attakathi Dhinesh, Ajay Ghosh, Aadukalam Murugadoss, Kishore. The story is about four guys who were tortured by police to confess a crime that they never committed.

Raame Aandalum

Starring Mithun Manickam, Ramya Pandian, Vani Bhojan and Vadivel Murugan. A rural couple’s most loved bulls disappear. However, as they attempt to find their animals, they receive little help from the community.

Karnan

Mari Selvaraj’s second movie after his award winning movie Pariyerum Perumal. This movie set high expectations among Dhanush’s fans. Starring Dhanush, Rajisha Vijayan, Yogi Babu and Lal.

Thanneer Thanneer

This movie was directed by K. Balachander, story by Komal Swaminathan. A small village in Tamil Nadu faces water scarcity. The film highlights the plight of the villagers and the sufferings they endure at the hands of bureaucrats when they try to resolve their problem. Starring Saritha, Shunmugham, V.K. Veeraswami, Vathiyar Raman, Charle, Guhan, A. K. Veerasamy, Raman, Radha Ravi

Veedu

After being forced to vacate her rented house, Sudha decides to build a new house for her family and herself. However, she faces a lot of difficulties owing to rampant corruption and red tape. Directed by Balu Mahendra with the cast of Archana as lead role.

Nammavar

K. S. Sethumadhavan direction, and stars Kamal Hassan, Gautami, Karan, Senthil, Nagesh, this movie about Selvam, the new vice principal of a college, tries to transform the behaviour of troublemaking students while fighting an inner war.

Kasi

Another brilliant performance by Vikram, as a blind person. This movie was released in 2001. Directed by Vinayan, this movie is about a blind man struggles to get back his vision along the way, his girlfriend and sister was cheated by the village head. Starring Vikram, Kaveri, Kavya Madhavan, Manivannan.
