Soorarai Pottru

Recently released, movie about Captain GR Gopinath, who founded the low-cost airline, Air Deccan. The struggled he went through to start a low-cost airline. His inspiration Vijay Vittal Mallya (played by Paresh Rawal) who stole his idea and started his own low-cost airlines. (Read full story on Wikipedia). Released in 2020, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, Paresh Rawal.

Veerapandiya Kattabomman

This 1959 movie is about the king of Panchalankurichi – Kattabomman. He refused to pay tax to white rulers back then was punish him after he lost in a war. Cast: Sivaji Ganesan, Padmini, Gemini Ganesan, V. K. Ramasamy and directed by B. R. Panthulu.

Iruvar

This movie’s story is about MGR and Karunanidhi, even though it was directly mentioned in this movie. Story about how an actor became a Hero and people’s star and turn into a politician against his best friend. Released in 1997, this movie was starring Mohanlal as MGR, Prakash Raj as Karunanidhi, along with Tabu, Aiswarya Rai, Gautami. Directed by Mani Ratnam.

Bharathi

No need brief about Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiar. A famous poeticm, a freedom fighter. Who went against caste and wanted everyone to live an equal life. Starring Sayaji Shinde, Devayani, Nizhalgal Ravi and directed by Gnana Rajasekaran in 2000.

Periyar

Periyar was one of the prominent figure to fights during independence. He was against the injustices of the Hindu caste system. Later, he begins fighting for the rights of Tamilians. Movie was directed by Gnana Rajasekaran and acted by Sathyaraj, Jyothirmayi, Vagai Chandrasekar. This movie was released in 2007.

Kamaraj

Starring Richard Madhuram, Mahendran, Charuhasan, V. S. Raghavan, and directed by A.Balakrishnan in 2004, this movie is about K Kamaraj is one of the most powerful politician in Tamil Nadu till the date. He faced a long of challenges through out the journey. He did a lot for poor people and encourage everyone needs to be educated.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

Story of one and only M S Dhoni!!! His life as a boy from Ranchi and how he became world leading cricket player for India. The struggles and issues he faced along the way. Released in 2016, and directed by Neeraj Pandey, this movie was acted by Sushant Singh, Kiara Advani, Disha Patani.

Kappalottiya Thamizhan

Chidambaram Pillai, also known as Kappalottiya Thamizhan. He is a revolutionary leader who is the first person to own a ship in India. Eventually his fight with monopoly of British maritime trade. Released in 1961 and acted by Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, Subbaiah and directed by B. R. Panthulu.

Veerappan

Everyone knows him as ‘Santha Kadathal’ Veerappan, who becomes a notorious dacoit. The war between him and police was going on for many years after he was shot dead. This movie captured his life very well. Directed by controversial director, Ram Gopal Varma in 2016. Acted by Sandeep Bharadwaj, Lisa Ray, Sachiin J Joshi.
